_{I was expecting it to be a lot worse, actually. Rain was in the forecast, and instead of going with a friend I ended up being called away to accompany my sister.

But, as I said, it really wasn't that bad.

We brought an umbrella that I got to use as a walking cane for most of the time (walking with a resounding THUMP every other step is amusing.) And when it ended up raining, it was short and not that heavy.

We passed some nice-looking costumes, including a Disco Bub, complete with sunglasses and 70's-music-playing boombox. He and I had a ten-second dance-meet before going our separate ways without a word. We also had a wordless conversation with a person in a gorilla suit who was handing out candy. Some guy passing by a house we were coming back from stopped to 'warn' us that this particular house was haunted by a woman who had killed her husband, then herself. The look on his face was priceless when we informed him that the woman who lives at that house is a really good friend of our family's, and her daughter is my sister's friend as well. One house we went to was playing Nightmare Before Christmas really loudly on their tv with the windows open. I told them that they were my favorite house so far. Then, another house we went to had a haunted trail set up in their backyard. It was small, but still fun.

And apparently "chaperon" is a valid costume and receives a good amount of candy. :3

_{I got a little tired of the old one, and after seeing it used around so much, decided I wanted to get one that would be more unique. So I heavily edited the one that I had before. Credits are still up in the little drop-down menu for the full listing. I'll be working on special header images and a few more graphics, but overall, it's going to stay pretty close to this. I've also made it easy for me to change the color scheme to fit other holidays, though probably the only one I'd really change it for is Christmas.}

So, today went like this:

I woke up at 6:30 and started to get ready to go to zero period so that my mom could drive me to school at 7. Mom gets up and goes out into the living room to turn on the tv and start getting breakfast for my sister. I come out a little later, and she's standing in font of the television, staring intensely at the reporter (Megan someone or other)

I ask her what she's watching, and mom turns around and declares "We're going. Get your sister up, we need to leave as soon as possible."

I'm very confused and ask what she's talking about. She replies that there's a clinic open at the Cheverly hospital that's offering H1N1 vaccines, and that according to the report, only about twenty or so people were there right now. Apparently the clinic had around 1000 vaccines. I reminded her about school, and she brushed it off, saying that school's where we'd catch it, anyway.

So we leave our house and arrive at the clinic at 8. Right behind us in line just so happens to be a good friend of mine, who I don't get to see that often because she switched schools. We got to talk and have fun while waiting in line in the slightly-cold morning.

While we were in line, an ABC news reporter approached mom and asked if we could be interviewed. She got my mom, my sister, and I on camera, and said that we might appear on the 6:30 news tonight. Unfortunately, I'm going to be at girl scouts then, but it would be fun to see if we're shown (and even then, it might just be mom, or my sister. I'm not the parent, nor am I at high risk for swine flu, so I'm not as important.) But if you happen to see the name Alyssa pop up (or you see a kid in a brilliantly bright orange shirt), don't laugh. XD I'm not a camera person.

After waiting in line, we finally got our shots at 11:15. It was a LONG wait, but I'm hoping that it was worth it. (And surprisingly, the needle really didn't hurt. The regular flu shot hurt more than this.)

But anyway, that was my excitement for today. Not all that exciting, sure, but it beats going to school; despite the fact that I missed all my fun classes that I WANTED to go to, and came back just in time for all the ones I DON'T like.}

_{I'm not going to write an essay-long journal about my grandmother's life. She was a wonderful person, and will live on in our hearts and minds as exactly just that. I don't need to try to prove to you all how much you should care for her. Her love is still warm in our family and those who knew her, and it doesn't need to be proven to anyone. I've been diligently wearing the necklace that she said would be mine ever since I was a child. I feel very lucky that I received it directly from her, and not in an envelope after the family started sorting through her will and belongings. I feel like wearing it is my part to play for as long as I can.

1. I highly doubt that I can come up with 16 different things about me. I'm not all that interesting. And sixteen is a lot.
2. I have a horrible procrastination habit. I owe people art requests from last spring. (This tag itself was put of for a few months.) But I'm trying to break the habit.
3. I like that song.
4. I'm a pretty unsocial person. I really don't have many people that I feel comfortable talking to.
5. I think that since the beginning of Junior year, I've become more of a pervert. I blame my lunch table.
6. I feel a little lonely now that I'm the only person in my group of friends who hasn't had a boyfriend. But I can safely say that I'm not desperate, and know how to say no.
7. I'm supportive of my friends' relationships, as long as it's healthy for them. :3
8. I was a horrible artist up until about a year ago.
9. I can remember when I first read the Black Blood Alliance and decided that I wanted to draw wolves. I'm ashamed to admit that I tried to deliberately copy Kay's style, but thankfully I wasn't that good at drawing at the time, so it didn't work. By the time I finally got good enough, I'd abandoned the reverence for her comic and style, and managed to get my own. It's still developing. And needs lots of anatomy checks. But it's mine.
10. I consider myself a Grammar-Nazi, but feel that I makes typos often to be able to stick to that label.
11. I just remembered that I'm supposed to be writing about things that no one else knows about me. So far, I've just been stating random facts that you probably have already heard. I'll try to do better for the remaining five.
12. I'm a pretty jealous person. I get miffed if one of my friends is stolen away to go talk with someone else. It's a bad habit, but it's hard to break.
13. I just realized that I'm also a very emotional person. That might be worse. >.>
14. I wanted a husky so badly between second and fifth grades that I put it on every wishlist that I wrote, and made a song that I would sing.
15. I have a hatred toward the "popular" group at school, but can clearly remember a time in my life when I wanted nothing more than to be a part of it.
